Training Philosophy
I use positive reinforcement and aversive-free based training methods to address issues in a real-world environment. This means:
meeting your dog’s needs
teaching you and your dog new skills
preventing behavior we don’t want
adapting to the environment you and your dog live in
positive associations and experiences for you and your dog.
This approach is the most effective training method and does cause problematic, behavioral side effects. I never use pain, fear, or intimidation to achieve results and I won’t ask you to either.
My Dog Training Journey
My journey in the dog training field started as a volunteer dog walker at local shelters where I learned how to interact with and walk a myriad of types of dogs. I eventually joined a volunteer dog training program at the shelter, then adopted a dog who became leash reactive. Through classes with her and then as a volunteer class assistant, I began to learn about the power of positive training to change behavior for better outcomes for the dog and the person.
